Questions and answers
Short answers about the app, pricing, privacy and how the estimates work.
What is IQFood?
IQFood is a nutrition and metabolism tracking app for iPhone and Android. You log meals by photo, voice or barcode, and it shows calories, macros, a weight forecast and estimated glucose, insulin and fat-burn curves for your day.
Is IQFood free?
IQFood is free to download, and most of it is free: the metabolic engine and its curves, charts and insights, weight tracking, daily check-ins, friends and chat, Trainer Mode and barcode scanning. Logging meals with AI, from a photo, by voice or by typing a sentence, is part of Premium, as is reading lab values into your log on Android. New accounts get a period of free Premium first.
How much does IQFood Premium cost?
Premium is a monthly or yearly subscription through Google Play or the App Store. In Romania the published price is 34.99 lei a month or 229.99 lei a year. Founding members, whose accounts were created before the founding offer closed, can take the founding price of 24.99 lei a month or 159.99 lei a year until 30 days after their own free Premium ends. In other countries the store shows the local price before you buy.
What is free Premium?
New accounts get 14 days of Premium free from IQFood, with no payment details. Accounts created before the founding offer closed keep their 180 days. It is not a free trial in Google Play or the App Store, and it never turns into a paid subscription by itself. When it ends, nothing is charged and the free features keep working.
Does IQFood measure my blood sugar?
No. IQFood does not measure anything and does not connect to glucose monitors. Its glucose, insulin, ketone, energy and fat-burn curves are model-based estimates computed from what you log. They can differ from your real physiology, and the app is not a medical device.
How does IQFood estimate glucose without a sensor?
From the meals you log (their carbohydrates, fiber, protein and fat), when you eat, how you move and sleep, IQFood estimates how glucose and insulin typically respond, using models from published research. It personalizes some parts from your own data over time, such as your energy use from your weight trend. The result is an estimate to learn from, not a reading.
Can IQFood scan food barcodes?
Yes, and barcode scanning is free. A scan looks the product up among about 4.6 million packaged products from the Open Food Facts database. Some products have incomplete nutrition data, and barcode logging never contacts an AI service.
Can I search for a food by name?
IQFood does not have a manual food search. You log packaged foods by scanning their barcode (free), or describe any meal with a photo, your voice or a sentence and let AI fill in the foods, portions and macros for you to confirm (Premium).
Does IQFood help with weight loss?
IQFood shows what you eat, your weight trend under the day-to-day noise and a forecast estimated from that trend and what you log, so you can see how your habits relate to your goal of losing, keeping or gaining weight. It does not promise results. If you have a health condition, talk to your doctor before changing how you eat.
Can my personal trainer see my data?
Only if you connect with them, and only the data you agree to share. With Trainer Mode, a coach sees their clients’ shared data in a coach dashboard and can chat with them. You can disconnect at any time, which removes their access. Trainer Mode is free.
Does IQFood work with Apple Health, Health Connect or a smartwatch?
Yes. With your permission IQFood reads steps, sleep, workouts, heart rate and weight from Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android, so a watch that syncs to those apps feeds IQFood too. The app never writes data back, and there is no separate watch app.
Which phones and languages does IQFood support?
Android 8.0 or later through Google Play, and iPhone with iOS 16 or later through the App Store. The app is available in English, Romanian, German, French, Spanish and Italian. You need to be 16 or older to use it.
Does IQFood sell my data or show ads?
No. IQFood shows no ads and does not sell your data. Health data is processed with your explicit consent to run the app for you. AI meal logging is processed on Google Cloud, which does not use it to train models, and the app does not keep your meal photos or recordings, only the confirmed log.
How do I delete my IQFood account?
In the app, open Profile, then Account, then Delete account, type delete and confirm. Your account and data are removed right away, apart from the records the Privacy Policy says we keep. You can also ask by email. Deleting the account does not cancel a store subscription, so cancel that in Google Play or the App Store first.
How do I contact IQFood?
Write to support@iqfood.app. Replies usually come within 1 to 2 business days. The address is also in the app, under Profile, Help & Support.
